- Network til your feet hurt. Affiliate Summit is your golden opportunity to talk to industry leaders and learn from some of the most successful marketers working today. So make sure to meet and talk to as many people as possible and not just the folks you already know. If you have the full pass, make sure to ask lots of questions and attend as many sessions as possible. You never know what topic will change the way you think about something or inspire your next great idea. My personal 99.99% unbiased recommendation: Todd Crawford’s Monday morning session on how to globalize your affiliate program. Not to be missed!
- Pace yourself. I’ve been to enough of these events to know that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. They say New York is the city that never sleeps, but I assure you, it is ok to take breaks. Say no to the free 2PM beer and go back to your hotel to decompress. If you’re the type that loves the Affiliate Summit party, make it your goal to at least stay upright long enough to watch Shaggy perform “It Wasn’t Me” at this year’s Affiliate Ball. After all, seeing aging 90’s hip hop and dancehall legends live is what it’s all about, am I right?
- Book early and often. You’re in one of the great global food destinations so take advantage. Just make sure you book your dinner reservations in advance. In fact book them now. You’re not getting a table at Peter Luger Steak House or Balthazar by just showing up. If you don’t mind waiting an hour for a table you could always try The Spotted Pig, which doesn’t take reservations but just might have the best burger in all of NYC, along with a very respectable wine list.
Have fun everyone. Don’t forget to stop by and say hi to us at booth 2009. We’ve got GIANT Connect Four and we can’t wait to connect with you! Get it?
